You're Exactly Where You Need to Be

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but… take a breath. Not the shallow one you take while checking emails or scrolling Instagram. A real one. Because somewhere along the way, many of us started believing life was a race. A timeline. A checklist we were supposed to complete by a certain age. College by this age. Career by this age. Marriage by this age. Kids by this age. Dream house. Dream body. Dream life. And when life doesn’t follow the schedule we imagined? Cue the panic.

We start comparing timelines like they’re report cards. She’s already there. I should have figured this out by now. Why am I behind? But here’s what rarely gets said, God is not operating on your panic schedule. He’s operating on purpose. "The Lord will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me." Psalms 138:8 Sometimes we assume if things aren’t happening quickly, something must be wrong. But God doesn’t rush growth. Seeds take time underground. Muscles take time to strengthen. Faith takes time to deepen. And the quiet seasons? The confusing seasons? The “I’m not sure what’s next” seasons? They are not wasted. They are forming you. God isn’t behind. He isn’t scrambling. He isn’t saying, “oops, Amberly’s life is off schedule.” He knows exactly where you are. And more importantly… why you’re there.

You are not late. You are not off track. You are not missing your moment. You are exactly where you’re supposed to be—learning the lesson, building the strength, and growing the faith needed for what’s ahead. If God rushed the process, you might arrive at the destination without the character to sustain it. So sometimes He slows us down. Not to frustrate us… but to prepare us.

Half the things we’re anxious about today? God already has worked out. The job. The relationship. The opportunity. The door that hasn’t opened yet. God is not pacing heaven saying, “I hope this works out for her.” He’s saying, “just trust Me.”

So today, instead of rushing your story… rest in it.

Instead of panicking about the timeline… trust the Author.

Instead of comparing your chapter to someone else's highlight reel… remember this, your story is unfolding exactly the way it’s meant to.

And the best parts? They’re still ahead.

Lord, help me release the pressure I’ve put on my own timeline. When I feel behind, remind me that You are never rushed and never late. Teach me to trust Your process, even when I can’t see the full picture yet. Give me peace in the waiting and confidence that You are guiding every step. Amen.
