You're Allowed to Outgrow It

Have you ever felt guilty for growing? Outgrowing a friendship. Outgrowing a job. Outgrowing a version of yourself that once fit perfectly. We don’t often talk about the quiet grief that comes with growth. Sometimes, it's as simple as knowing... something good, isn't always permanent. Sometimes we stay too long out of loyalty. Sometimes we shrink to stay comfortable. Sometimes we dim so others don’t feel left behind. But you are not called to shrink to make other people comfortable. You are called to grow.
When God grows you, it rarely feels "good." It feels like:
misalignment
restlessness
a tug in your spirit you can’t ignore
conversations that suddenly feel shallow
spaces that once energized you now draining you
And then you start wondering… Am I ungrateful? Am I disloyal? Am I changing too much? Not at all, you're evolving. Isaiah 43:19 says it best, "for I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun!" God does new things. That means seasons shift. Assignments change. People rotate. New things require new capacity. And you cant'r carry your old season into your new one. Here's the important part... outgrowing something doesn't mean it was bad. It just meant it was for a season. Jesus had seasons. He didn’t stay in the manger. He didn’t stay in Nazareth .He didn’t stay hidden forever. Movement is biblical.
Sometimes growth looks like:
updating your circle
leaving what’s familiar
saying no when you used to say yes
stepping into rooms that stretch you
becoming more disciplined
protecting your peace
And here’s the kicker… not everyone will clap for your growth, and that's to be expected. Keep growing anyway! Some people only liked the version of you that needed them. But you are not responsible for staying small to keep access comfortable. You are allowed to outgrow mindsets, jobs, conversations, environments, habita, and the girl you were five years ago. Growth is not betrayal. It is obedience. If God is stretching you, it's because He trusts you with more. Think about that, how lucky are you to be trusted by God to do more.
SHE Walks in Faith
SHE understands that loyalty to God sometimes means letting go of what once felt safe.
SHE trusts that growth is not rebellion—it’s refinement.
SHE knows that pruning feels painful, but fruit requires it.
🩷 Prayer
Lord, give me courage to release what I’ve outgrown. Help me trust that when You shift seasons, it’s for purpose—not punishment. Guard my heart from guilt when You are calling me forward. If You are doing a new thing in me, help me perceive it. Even if it feels uncomfortable. Even if it costs me familiarity. Grow me. Refine me. Lead me. Amen.
