Surrendered Plans: Trusting God

Updated: Jan 5

Have you ever felt like your plans just... didn't work out? You set goals, made a roadmap, prayed, and still, life didn't go as expected. I have a handful of... well that's not how I saw this going/ending moments. Frustrating, right? Maybe even discouraging. I've been there too.

Jeremiah 29:11 remind us, "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Before we plan, we pray. Planning has always been a part of my life. In my 9-5, in marketing and communications everything is plannedI literally create marketing plans, with the word "plan" in the title, often nearly a year in advance. As a former Wedding Planner, you can imagine every detail was planned. However, I didn't always pray before I planned. It wasn't until recently when my stress and anxiety was at an all-time high that I started praying before big decisions at work, and before every wedding. And you know what? Things changed. I saw it, I felt it. Sure, there were still hiccups, but the way those moments were handled—by me, my coworkers, or even the bride—was positive and peaceful in a way I hadn't experience before.

Surrendering your plans doesn't mean giving up—it means releasing your control and trusting His. When we do, peace follows surrender. This year—2026—let's take that promise to heart. Say, "God I release my timeline, my expectations, my perfect plan... and I trust You for what's next." God isn't against your plans (read that again... God isn't against your plans), in fact, He's for the best version of them. Sometimes the detours come because He has something bigger in store. Even when the road looks rocky and uncertain, He's already paving the road ahead and working on your next chapter.

Let go of what you can't control. Release the "how" and "when" and step into 2026 confident that God's loving hand is guiding every step.

SHE Walks in Faith

Today, take a 5-10 minute walk—outside, around your home, or even pacing quietly inside. As you walk, with each step, imagine letting go of old expectation and feat, and stepping into the plans God has for you. Focus on the rhythm of your steps as a reminder that faith is a journey—sometimes slow, sometimes uncertain, but never alone. God is walking right beside you every step of the way.

🩷 Prayer

Lord, I surrender my plans for 2026 to You. I trust that Your plans are good, full of hope, and full or purpose. Teach me to release what I cannot control and walk forward in faith, knowing You are guiding me every step of the way. Amen.
