Main Character Energy, But Make it Holy

We've heard the phrase "main character energy," right? Walk into the room like you own it. Romanticize your life. Be the moment. And listen… I’m not mad about it. BUT what if I told you that as daughters of God, we actually do have main character energy? Just not the self-centered, spotlight-hogging, “everyone clap for me” kind. But rather, the holy kind. Where YOU are the main character, but GOD is the author.
You are not random. You are not background noise. You are not an extra in someone else’s story. You were intentionally written. "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 A masterpiece doesn't apologize for existing. But here’s the shift, Holy main character energy understands that while you are deeply important, you are not self-made. You’re authored. And when you know the Author? You don’t need to beg for validation.
You can certainly have confidence without ego. Ego says, "look what I did.” Confidence says, "look what God did in me.” Ego needs applause. Confidence rests in assignment. Ego compares. Confidence knows it was custom-designed. When you know who you belong to, you stop shrinking to make other people comfortable. Jesus never walked into a room insecure. He was gentle. He was kind. But He was never unsure. That’s the energy.
And hear this, you can be bold without being prideful. Pride says, "I deserve this.” Holy boldness says, "I’m called to this.” There’s a difference. Pride makes it about position. Boldness makes it about purpose. When Esther walked into the king’s court uninvited, that wasn’t arrogance. That was assignment. That’s holy main character energy. Not “notice me.” But “use me.”
Some of us have been:
dimming our personality
downplaying our gifts
apologizing for our ambition
waiting for permission to step into rooms God already opened
Like why... why are you acting like an extra in a story God specifically wrote for you? You can be humble and powerful. Soft and strong. Submitted and bold. Jesus washed feet. But He also flipped tables. Holiness is not weakness. Humility is not invisibility.
SHE Walks in Faith
Holy main character energy looks like:
speaking clearly without over-explaining yourself.
applying for the job even if you don’t check every box.
launching the thing God put on your heart.
dressing with intention because you know you represent Him.
walking into the meeting like you belong there—because you do.
Not because you’re better. But because you’re called.
🩷 Prayer
Lord, teach me how to walk boldly without becoming prideful. Help me carry confidence that reflects You, not ego that replaces You. Remind me that I am chosen, called, and created on purpose—but never self-made. Let my life point back to the Author. Use me in the story you’re writing. And give me holy main character energy—the kind that advances Your Kingdom. Amen.
