Joy Looks Good on You

We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24 Joy is not naïve. Joy is not ignoring real life. Joy is not pretending your to-do list isn’t screaming your name. Joy is a choice. And honestly? It looks good on you. You have to choose joy every day. Some mornings we wake up ready to conquer the world. Other mornings we wake up negotiating with the alarm clock like it personally offended us. But somewhere between brushing your teeth and reheating your coffee for the second time, you get to decide... am I going to drag this day, or am I going to own it?

Scripture doesn’t say, “this is the day the Lord has made—complain about it." And thank goodness it doesn't, because people who complain, sorry but you get on my nerves (yep, I said it). Because I promise, someone always has it worse than you. It says rejoice. God didn’t wait for your bank account to grow. He didn’t wait for the relationship to work out. He didn’t wait for the scale to move. He already made the day. And when the Creator of the universe handcrafted this Wednesday, He looked at it and said, “yes, this one too.” You know what that means? There is something in this day with your name on it. Why? Because God has still kept you here. Maybe it's a divine appointment. A laugh you didn’t see coming. A text that makes you smile. A moment that reminds you who you are. You don’t have to shrink. You don’t have to sulk. You don’t have to wait for perfect conditions. You get to walk in like you belong there. Because you do.

And can we just admit... a woman who knows she’s loved by God walks differently. She smiles a little brighter. She forgives a little quicker. She flirts with life a little more playfully. She doesn’t chase validation—she radiates it. Joy isn’t loud all the time. Sometimes it’s quiet confidence. Sometimes it’s lipstick, a good hair day, and a good playlist. Sometimes it’s laughing at your own joke because you are hilarious. And sometimes? It’s choosing to believe that God is in this day—even if it looks ordinary. You don’t need fireworks to be fabulous. You just need faith. So wake up. Put on the gratitude. Walk into the room like heaven has your back. Because it does.

SHE Walks in Faith

Two assignments for today.

  1. Before the day ends, intentionally encourage one woman. Send the text. Leave the comment. Speak it out loud. Joy multiplies when you give it away.

  2. Set a timer for two minutes. List as many blessings as you can—small, silly, serious, all of it. Coffee. A job. A friend. A working car. Clean mascara. Let gratitude shift the atmosphere. Joy isn’t passive. It’s practiced. And complaining, that's why it's so easy—it doesn't require practice. And today? You’re practicing.

🩷 Prayer

Lord, thank you for this Wednesday—this middle-of-the-week, not-quite-Friday, slightly-caffeinated day. If my joy feels a little dim, relight it. Help me choose rejoicing on purpose. Not because everything is perfect, but because You are present. Teach me to walk into every room knowing I am loved, covered, and called. Give me the confidence that comes from belonging to You, not from circumstances, compliments, or accomplishments. Let my attitude reflect my trust. Let my words lift someone today. Let my gratitude be louder than my stress. And as the weekend flashes in the distance, remind me that purpose is here right now—in this ordinary Wednesday. I trust You with today. I choose joy with You in it. Amen.
