Heaven Has No Designer Section

My husband will be the first to tell you… I like the finer things in life. I like a nice home. A nice car. And don’t even get me started on good skincare. But past that? I truly could not care less. Now, I’m not saying I don’t have expensive taste. I’d be lying if I said that. I do. I appreciate quality. I appreciate craftsmanship. I appreciate beautiful things. But here’s what’s funny about me… I have always wanted to do the opposite of whatever everyone else is doing. If it’s trending? I’m skeptical. If everyone has it? I suddenly don’t want it. If it’s screaming for attention? I’m walking the other way. And if it has a logo on it. I'm out!
Yesterday I walked into Walmart for one thing (chicken) and walked out with two blouses, a sweater, a cardigan, and a pair of shoes. Free Assembly for the win. All under $100. And honestly? I felt like I hit the jackpot. I even FaceTimed my Granny, because I couldn't believe how cute the pieces were. Meanwhile, it’s like Gucci exploded everywhere. I’ve never seen so many Gucci and Louis Vuitton bags in my life—and y’all… they are expensive. And listen, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a dupe. I love a good find. I love a smart save. I love not paying full price. But it makes me a little sad when people want the dupe so badly just for the logo, or because it's what everyone else has. Not because of the quality. Not because they love the craftsmanship. Not because they even like the bag. Just because of the label. Because somewhere along the way, we were taught that the logo equals the value. And that’s the dangerous part.
When the label becomes more important than what’s actually inside. Isn’t it wild how we’ll chase a logo for validation, but hesitate to chase God for identity? We want to carry something that says we’ve “made it. God wants us to carry something that says we’re His. One fades. One lasts forever.
Which got me thinking. We live in a world obsessed with labels. Designer labels. Social labels. Status labels. Political labels. Church labels. But here’s the good news, you do not need a logo to prove your worth. God does not care about your name brands. He’s not impressed by your bag. He’s not moved by your zip code. He’s not evaluating your worth based on the logo on your shoes.
"People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7 That verse didn’t say the Lord looks at the logo or brand. He looks at your heart. And let me say this with a little honesty, you can carry Louis Vuitton and still carry bitterness. You can wear Gucci and still wear insecurity. You can look expensive and still feel empty. God isn’t anti-nice things. He made beauty. He made craftsmanship. He made creativity. But He is absolutely uninterested in your label being your identity. In heaven, there is no VIP designer section. No influencer lounge. No “platinum salvation package.” Just grace. And that grace is free—no promo code required.
The truth? Some of the most secure, confident, radiant women I know aren’t walking around dripping in labels. They’re dripping in kindness. They’re wrapped in humility. They’re clothed in peace. And those things never go out of style. So if you love nice things? Enjoy them. If you love Walmart finds? Rock them. If you’re somewhere in between? Same. Now let me add a huge disclaimer before anyone clutches their pearls. You can absolutely. like the finer things in life. You can carry Louis Vuitton. You can wear Gucci. You can appreciate beautiful, well-made, luxury items. There is nothing sinful about quality. There is nothing wrong with enjoying success. There is nothing ungodly about liking nice things. The issue isn’t the bag. It’s the why. Just check in with yourself often. Are you buying the bag because you genuinely love it? Or because you want it to say something about you? Are you appreciating craftsmanship? Or are you craving validation? There’s a difference. God doesn’t mind you having nice things. He just doesn’t want nice things having you. So enjoy the blessing. Celebrate the beauty. Carry the bag if you love the bag.
Just make sure your identity isn’t stitched into it. Because at the end of the day, there are no designer labels in heaven—God doesn't check the tag on your blouse. He checks the posture of your heart.
SHE Walks in Faith
Ask yourself these questions...
Have I allowed labels—expensive or otherwise, to define me?
Am I trying to keep up with trends instead of walking confidently in who God made me to be?
If all my outward identifiers disappeared, would my faith still stand strong?
🩷 Prayer
Lord, strip away anything I’ve let define me that isn’t from You. Keep my heart humble, confident, and rooted in truth. Let my identity rest in being Yours—not in what I wear, own, or display. Amen.
